Short answer: Nope.
Long answer: AMDs new AM3 CPUs can be used in AM2+, but AMDs chip right now is the only kind of cross-socket CPU. With Intel, its chip to socket and thats it. On my personal opinion, AMD is the better value right now, Intels shit still cost far to much and modern games really don't need X-TRME SPEEDZ and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between an AMD machine and Intel machine when actually playing something. _________________

If you are going to spend a thousand dollars on a processor, may want to buy the new 6 core intel extreme........... Then again, the thousand dollars doesnt really net you all that much more performance unless you plan on extremely high overclocks using top end liquid/phase change cooling.
If you are not looking into that sort of thing, you are essentially throwing your money down the pooper
