It's amazing that you guys have not migrated off of CS-anything, and perhaps onto L4D or even TF2. I'm thinking that the competitiveness of L4D (1 or 2) has "tournament" written all over it. _________________

I'll let you know, good sir, I've been CS free for the better part of a year. _________________

Well, I'm not talking casual players. What people play in their "off time" has none of my concern. Hell, people were wondering why I was playing Safecracker for the longest time. I'm more addressing the comp's/tourney's at LAN parties; why most of the "big time" events have not graduated to something that is a bit more newer and geared towards competitive play.
Essentially TF2 is just another UT shoot 'em up when you look at it in a sense. L4D has a good formula that is geared towards a tournament. I don't think its a lack of interest or hardware specs that can't support it; I easily have about 150+ people on my Steam buddy list, and most of the time they are playing either CoD:MW2, or L4DX...and at SLP (were you there, CN?) there were people playing CS:S that had specs that would smoked my machine, not to mention the one chick that brought a 36" LCD HDTV as her monitor.
I know you run the games that bring the masses, and ultimately it is up to the admins of MPCon to load whatever game that may be, but, it doesn't really separate them from the other umpteen LAN parties in MI, or in the tri-state area. _________________

MPCon usually hosts the best CS / CS:S tournaments and they get a lot of people to travel quite a ways to play in them. I only mention CS Pro Mod because it was just released, and I hear quite a few people like what they have done with it.
I personally haven't played any video games for the past year or so since I got my full-time job. Although I would like to come out to another lan soon for old times sake. _________________

And taht may be the case, but my whole point is if the dwindling state of the LAN parties in MI can have a breath of fresh air breathed into them with introducing newer games that are out, why doesn't one of them take the initiative and try?
There can't be a LAN event out there that looks at whats being played right now and say "we can't go that route, we can't tourney these games, it won't bring us the $$"
..or at the very least, hold both? _________________
