SCALE 7x Issues Call For Papers

SCALE 7x, the 7th Annual Southern California Linux Expo has issued a call for papers. SCALE 7x will be held on Feb 20-22, 2009 at the Los Angeles Airport Westin. If you are working on an interesting open-source / Linux related project, or would like address the community, SCALE welcomes you to submit a presentation proposal.

Call of Duty - World at War Sees US Release

Treyarch's next installment in the CoD franchise, Call of Duty: World at War, is a hitting shelves this week along with 360 and PS3 versions of DICE's long-awaited FPS platfomer, Mirror's Edge.

New Game Store Open in Kalamazoo/Portage Area

There is a new video game store that opened on August 1st for the Kalamazoo/Portage area. Games Warehouse offers game systems from Atari to XBox360. They also carry portable DVD players and MP3 players as well as specialize in case modifications.

MPCon, Michigans Largest Bi-annual LAN Party is teaming up with the Gamers Outreach Foundation (GOF) to host one of the largest events Michigan has ever seen. Not only will we have a 250 Person BYOC LAN, but running all day Saturday we'll have a Halo 3 2v2 $1000 Cash prize tournament. The LAN will last Friday Afternoon - Sunday Morning having over 40 hours of gaming! That $7500 up at the top, that's the goal we're looking to donate to the Autism Society of Washtenaw County which is a local branch of Autism Society Of America

The BoxHeads Spring LAN Party 2008 Details

The Spring 2008 BoxHeads LAN Party will be different from our previous events. After hosting LAN parties throughout Michigan for the last 6-7 years, we decided it was time for a change. We're stripping away the gimmicks and hype and get back to the gaming. Our ultimate goal is to cut the fat and replicate the fun and excitement of one of our basement LANs in a public event.

The event will take place at the Plainwell Community Center in Plainwell, MI on April 12 from 10am until 10pm. Admission is only $5.

SCALE Announces 2008 Speaker Line Up

SCALE has announced its speaker line up for 2008. Speakers will include Don Marti, Josh Berkus (Postgres), Bdale Garbee (HP), Jono Bacon, and others. In addition to the recently announced speaker line up, registration is now open and available online. SCALE will be held Feb 8 -10, 2008 at the Los Angeles Airport Westin in Los Angeles California.

Hell Freezes Over�Duke Nukem Forever Trailer Tomorrow!

This is not a Rickroll: George Broussard of 3D Realms has confirmed that the teaser trailer for the long-awaited Duke Nukem Forever will released tomorrow at around noon CST. The announcement was made today on 3D Realms'' forums.

"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise," explained Broussard. "It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever. After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming."
